-
Is there a uniform policy at ELEVATE?No. We do not have a uniform policy in place. We believe in allowing our students to move freely and comfortably throughout the day, so we recommend that they wear comfortable, active attire and suitable running shoes for their daily activities. This approach ensures that our students can fully engage in their learning experiences while feeling at ease.

Can you tell me more about the faculty's qualifications? We call our teachers “guides” at Elevate. Our "guides" possess unique qualifications that go beyond traditional educational backgrounds. While having an educational degree or background is valuable, it's not the sole determinant of qualification for our guides. We prioritize individuals who are open-minded, have real-world professional experience, and a passion for bringing out the best in each child. Our guides are not just educators; they are real-world mentors who are committed to nurturing children's potential without limiting their imagination. They are known for being fun, engaging, passionate, present, and mindful in their approach. Instead of conforming children to a rigid "box," our guides aim to challenge and inspire them, encouraging lifelong curiosity and continuous learning. This is the unique qualification that sets our guides apart, allowing them to guide and support students in a truly exceptional way. What you can expect from our guides: Empowering Success: Our guides foster a supportive environment to maximize students' success in their learning journey. Energized Commitment: Our guides bring unwavering energy and dedication, giving our best every minute to inspire and lead by example. Efficient Resource Facilitators: Our guides assist students in acquiring necessary materials, managing schedules, and coordinating with other teams, ensuring seamless project execution. Perpetual Curiosity: Our guides maintain an insatiable curiosity, remaining open to fresh ideas and continually learning from teammates, fostering a culture of ongoing growth and innovation. Guardians of Safety: As safety officers, our guides prioritize the well-being of our students by identifying and addressing potential safety concerns proactively.

How does ELEVATE integrate technology into learning?Elevate champions the savvy use of technology, guiding students to harness it for achieving their goals. We're dedicated to fostering a bold curiosity about emerging technologies, encouraging them to explore, invent, and identify what's yet to be created. With technology, especially AI, growing at an unprecedented pace, we prepare our students to be at the forefront of this evolution. Our aim is not to tether them to screens, but to cultivate active creators and innovators in tech, rather than passive consumers.

How does ELEVATE handle assessments and reporting to parents?ELEVATE has a well-structured approach to assessments and reporting to parents. Assessments are conducted continuously throughout the semester, ensuring that we have a comprehensive understanding of your child's progress. At the end of each semester, parents receive regular reports that provide insights into their child's academic journey. In addition to these reports, we also schedule parent-guide conferences to facilitate open discussions about your child's development and address any questions or concerns you may have. For Project-Based Learning assessments, we employ a multi-faceted approach. This evaluation includes input from our faculty, peer evaluation, and self-evaluation. It's important to note that the assessment considers both individual contributions and teamwork. We assess various categories, such as the achievement of project goals, the quality of teamwork, the excellence of the final result, and the applicability of the project to real-world scenarios. We emphasize not only the end result but also the process, recognizing that both are integral to a comprehensive assessment of your child's growth and learning experiences.

Are there any exams for students? No. At our school, we have a different approach when it comes to student assessments. We do not believe in traditional exams as a reliable measure of a child's learning progress. The traditional exam-based assessment system is outdated and often results in students memorizing material temporarily, only to forget it shortly afterward. Research has shown that exams can create significant stress for children and contribute to a short-term understanding of the material. They can also discourage students from developing a genuine passion for learning. Many individuals who experienced exam-based education often recall it as a stressful and unpleasant experience, which may lead to a lack of interest in learning after graduation. However, we believe that learning is a lifelong journey toward becoming a well-rounded human being. At our school, we do not use traditional exams. Instead, we assess each child's progress individually by evaluating the outcomes of their project-based learning experiences. Our aim is to foster curiosity and a love for learning that will continue long after graduation, promoting a holistic and enduring approach to education.

How does ELEVATE approach holistic education? Our holistic approach to education is designed to foster the well-rounded development of each student. We believe in nurturing academic excellence, physical well-being, emotional growth, and social responsibility. Holistic education takes a comprehensive view of learning, acknowledging that students are unique individuals with distinct needs and talents. It recognizes that children thrive when their diverse requirements are met. For instance, during the middle and high school years, when students undergo puberty and experience hormonal changes and emotional fluctuations, it becomes crucial for parents and those around them to provide support and guidance. Encouraging physical activity to release energy, promoting healthy and nutritious eating habits, and creating an environment where open discussions about emotions are encouraged are all essential components of this holistic approach. Furthermore, we emphasize the cultivation of self-awareness, teaching students to look inward and understand themselves better, which is crucial for their journey towards becoming conscious and responsible adults. We believe in the interconnectedness of individuals with their surroundings, instilling in our students a sense of oneness with the world and the importance of considering others. By focusing on these fundamental principles, we aim to help students become well-rounded individuals who not only excel academically but also possess the skills and values to positively impact their own lives and the world around them.

What are the lunch options, and how does the school promote healthy eating? At our school, we place a strong emphasis on conscious eating and promoting healthy dietary habits among our students. We believe in asking important questions about what we consume: What are we putting in our mouths? Do we truly need it? How does our body feel after eating? What are the effects of the food we just consumed? And how fresh are the ingredients we use? These questions serve as the foundation for nurturing conscious leaders. On selected days, we involve students in the preparation of a portion of the lunch menu. This hands-on experience encourages them to be mindful of the ingredients they use, their freshness, and the impact of spices on the flavors they create. Our school is dedicated to offering nutritious and balanced lunches that prioritize whole foods over unhealthy processed options. While your child may occasionally encounter ingredients they are unfamiliar with, we view this as an opportunity for them to discover the benefits of nutritious foods and develop healthy eating habits. Additionally, students learn the importance of setting tables, turning mealtime into a communal gathering experience, fostering a sense of community and connection. We believe that conscious eating and healthy mealtime habits are essential aspects of our students' overall development as responsible and aware individuals.
-

What is the school's approach to homework and outside-of-class learning? We have a unique approach to homework and outside-of-class learning. We do not assign traditional homework to our students. We firmly believe that it is essential for children to have quality time with their families, free from the stress of memorization or practicing math calculations at home. We prioritize a balanced and holistic approach to education that promotes well-being and family time as integral to a child's overall growth and development.

What is the admission policy for students with learning differences?Prospective Elevate students should take into consideration that our distinctive curriculum extends beyond the classroom and may involve learning experiences both on and off-campus, including outdoor locations like beaches, rivers, town areas, and fields. This aspect of our education may pose challenges for individuals who are exceptionally sensitive to or easily overwhelmed by the diverse environmental stimuli associated with outdoor settings, including exposure to elements like heat, rain, wind, and various natural and industrial sounds. Furthermore, it's essential to understand that our primary curriculum is Project-Based Learning, which places a strong emphasis on students being actively involved, self-directed, and effective team communicators. These educational requirements involve hands-on activities and a high level of independence. It's important to recognize that these environmental factors and physical demands can significantly influence the educational experience at Elevate. Placement decisions at Elevate are made after careful consideration of whether our learning environment is suitable for the student, taking into account their specific learning challenges. Additionally, we assess whether we have the necessary learning support resources available to meet the student's academic needs at the time of admission. The primary goal of the Elevate Admissions team is to gain a thorough understanding of each applicant's learning needs before making placement decisions. As a result, applicants with a history of requiring learning support are requested to provide specific documentation before final placement decisions are made. This documentation includes: An Educational Psychologist report (if applicable) dated within the last three years. Individual Education Plan (IEP) and educational reports (if applicable). Medical history and reports (if applicable). A record of placement and treatment history. For students diagnosed with or suspected of having dyslexia, a current Dysfunctional Attitude Scale (DAS) report (no older than 12 months) or its local equivalent must be submitted to support their application. Students requiring Occupational, Speech Therapy, Physical Therapy, or Mental Health Support will only be admitted if parents can provide proof of having secured these services from another professional here in Hoi An. It's important to note that Elevate will admit students requiring learning support up to a predetermined threshold for the semester. Once this limit is reached, no additional students requiring learning support will be admitted until either space becomes available or additional resources are put in place to meet their learning needs."

How does ELEVATE encourage parental involvement? We actively promote and value parental involvement in your child's education. We believe in open and regular communication with parents, which includes parent-teacher meetings and opportunities to volunteer in various school events. Unlike traditional schooling, where parents often only receive a report card at the end of the semester showing academic grades, we challenge the notion that academic progress alone defines a child's growth. Here at ELEVATE, we offer a more comprehensive perspective on your child's development. You can actively participate in your child's educational journey by attending their presentations and observing the end products of their projects. We dedicate certain Fridays to showcase your child's presentations, allowing you to witness the incredible progress they have made and the skills and experiences they have acquired. We strongly encourage parents to join us during these presentation days periodically. It's an opportunity for you to see firsthand how your child is evolving into a confident future leader. We believe that by engaging actively in your child's educational experiences, you play a vital role in their holistic growth and development.
